Meet Senior Singles – Dressing For A Date

Senior Single Men and Women Dressing For A Date

Seniors dressing for a Date -

The Look Today
 Senior Dressing for A Date.
This is not your traditional article on seniors dressing for a date. There is not a cookie cutter answer. Most importantly, when you look good you feel good. Nothing is worse than going out on a date and being self conscience about what you wore. How you look in a outfit. Instead of being comfortable on the date you are squirming about what you have worn. It could be the wrong color, wrong design  and or fashion. The shirt, dress, jacket may be too tight, too long or short, fashion miss, wrong color, shoes too tight or combination. It is horrible to go on a date and your feet hurt. Just as horrifying is a shirt, pant or skirt button popping off during a date. You may have read in a magazine or seen on a morning show the latest fashion for seniors. Well after giving the latest senior fashion a try, it is not for you.

Seniors it is funny how we have been fashion conformist all of our lives. In public school we dressed based on what was the in-thing was with the group. If you attended private school there were daily uniforms. In college we tended to conform to the campus fashion of the day. As a married couple with children society had dress code standards. In the work force the employer has a dress code and employees conformed. Now you are single senior and society has old ancestral dress codes for seniors. I do not subscribe to those dress standards. Fashion is a form of self express. Seniors you are now free. Dressing for a date wear what makes you comfortable. What make you feel good. Dressing well based on the occasion gives a sense of confidence.  It may be old comfortable shoes, new high heels, a bow tie, a hat, new shiny bangle, jeans, fashion sunglasses and swim suits are not out. You choose you know what you look good on you. You know the correct size, fashions and color schemes that enhance your appearance. Nothing in wrong with venturing into a new fashion. Nothing wrong with staying in this is me fashion. I went online searched Baby Boomer fashions. Senior dating fashion is wide open.

Venture out and purchase something that makes you feel good. You know what style, size and color scheme looks good on you. There is nothing wrong with exploring newer trends if there is a comfort level with the trend. There is nothing wrong with just wear oldie but goodies. Be yourself. Date will appreciate you for yourself.

Most Of All
Dressing For A Date Be Yourself
Have A Sense of Humor!

Senior Women Pamper
Yourself!

It is great to dress up or down for shopping, gardening, office, date or etc. Single senior women before the dress-up pamper yourself daily.  One entitlement women have is pampering. There is nothing like a nice warm relaxing scented bubble baths. It is amazing the small body maintenance you can do while relaxing in the bath. Do not forget those moisturizing creams. Pampering is not new. In Ancient Egypt Cleopatra bathed in milk and rose petals. Women Ancient Egypt and Greece moisturize with olive oil. Pampering is a women's entitlement. Pampering is not only for a date but a everyday thing just for you.

Senior Dating Fan Old World Attraction

Hand Fan Attraction
Senior Dating - The Fan Attraction

Contemporary times there are arts of attraction. In Old World Europe the hand fan had its own silent language of attraction. The fan has been used by women for centuries as silent language of physical attraction, love or rejection. The fan has a language of it own. Art of attraction, invitation, love or rejection. Lover was encouraged by gracious furls of the fan. A disdainful furl meant rejection. Gallant men were students in the interpretation of each flutter of a woman's fan.

Between the 1600 century until the late 1800s the fan was in use in Western Europe including Spain. The fan was a fashion accessory and symbol of social status. Fans were made of ivory, painted paper or silk, lace or animal skin. Folding fan were approximate eight to nine inches long. High fashion was not complete without a well designed fan. Young ladies were trained in fan etiquette. In Spanish culture the father was the family protector. Daughter were discreetly protected again male suitors. Women in the family were expected to be lovely, discreet, silent and private. The hand fan, ‘abanico’ was the perfect fashion accessory. Custom traditionally designed fans gave the sense of allure, privacy and mystery. In the 1600s – 1800s century social etiquette restricted verbal intimate communications between men and women. The fan was not just a fashion statement. The fan has an unspoken code language. Women were proficient in fan gestures and men were experts in fan gesture interpretation. The fan was not just a fashion statement and cooling instrument. The fan had its' own silent language of attraction, love or rejection.

Fan Language:

  • Closing the fan – I wish to talk to you
  • Open fan widely – Wait for me

  • Handle of fan to Lips – Kiss Me

  • Dropping fan – I belong to you

  • Drawing the fan across the right cheek – I love you

  • Letting fan rest on right cheek – Yes

  • Letting fan rest on left cheek – No

  • Half opened fan over face – We are being watched (maybe parents or spouse)

  • Fan open covering mouth – I am single

  • Fan very quickly – I am engaged

  • Slowly fanning – I am married (depending on gesture could mean – I do not care for you)

  • Hitting object with fan – I am impatient

  • Fanning with left hand – Do not flirt with that women.

  • Woman running fingers through fan’s ribs – I want to talk to you.

  • Resting Fan on lips – I do not trust you

  • Twirling fan in left hand – I want to get rid of you

  • Twirling with the right hand – I love another

  • Some historian argues the fans coded language never existed. Others believe this coded language was handed down each generation from mother to daughter. Joseph Addison wrote “Passion of the Fan”.
    By Joseph Addison
[Author of "Passions of the Fan"] The Spectator, No 102, 1711

“Women are armed with fans as men with swords, and sometimes do more execution with them. To the end therefore that ladies may be entire mistresses of the weapon which they bear, I have erected an academy for the training up of young women in the exercise of the fan, according to the most fashionable airs and motions that are now practiced at court.”
The ladies who carry fans under me are drawn up twice a-day in my great hall, where they are instructed in the use of their arms, and exercised by the following words of command:
Handle your Fans, Unfurl your Fans, Discharge your Fans, Ground your Fans, Recover your Fans, Flutter your Fans.
By the right observation of these few plain words of command, a woman of a tolerable genius, who will apply herself diligently to her exercise for the space of but one half year, shall be able to give her fan all the graces that can possibly enter into that little modish machin The language of the fan is a forgotten. Women are not repressed and can openly communicate with the opposite sex. Things change and remain the same body language and eye contacts are unspoken code languages of attraction. Unfortunately there not camouflaged by a beautify fan. The traditional fan added mystery and allure to the art of attraction, dating and love.

Senior Dating - Royal Love Webs

    Duchess of Devonshire

Senior Dating - Love Webs of Royals
Georgina Cavendish ( Duchess of Devonshire)
     and  Princess Diana

Georgiana Cavendish great, great grand niece was Diana Spencer. Both born more than two hundred year apart had very similar ill fated marriages. Georgiana married William Cavendish, 5th Duke of Devonshire and Diana Spencer marriage Prince Charles of Wales. Georgina married at 17 William Devonshire nearly ten years her elder. Georgiana’s father was John Spencer, 1st Earl Spencer. Diana married at age 20 years and Prince Charles of Wales was in his early thirties. Both married older men of status and wealth. William and Charles were considered the most eligible bachelors of the time. Their marriages propelled them to fame. Duchess of Devonshire and Princess Diana both noted for their beauty and fashion. Fashion icons of the day the duchess was painted by Gainsborough and Reynolds. More than two hundred years later Princess Diana was painted by Mario Testino. Every public appearance Georgina chronicled in tabloids of the day. Princess Diana was flocked by paparazzi.

Duke of Devonshire had two conditions required from his wife loyalty and a male heir. 18th century London had one set of rules for wives and a different set of rules for husbands. Early in her marriage her husband’s child by a maid moved into their home. Georgiana raised the child as her own. There were three children from this marriage. Fortunately, the third child was a male heir, the 6th Duke of Devonshire. The Duke’s mistress, Lady Elizabeth Foster lived with them for twenty five years. Lady Elizabeth Foster bore the 5th Duke of Devonshire two children.

Georgiana’ public life was different than here private life. Known for beauty, style and elaborate fashion. She had a passion for politics and actively campaigned for the Whig Party. She had an extra marital affair with Charles Gray. This affair produced a daughter, Eliza Courtney. The daughter was sent to live with the Grey family. Charles Grey later became prime minster. Georgiana and William remained together until her death at 48. A few years after Georgiana’s death 5th Duke of Devonshire married his mistress, Lady Elizabeth Foster.

Diana as well, known for beauty and fashion. Princess Diana was active in AIDS Awareness and land-mine victims. Two handsome sons was produced from there marriage. Prince William, Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry of Wales’s heirs to the throne. Camilla Parker Bowles relationship with Prince Charles begin many years before Diana’s marriage to Prince Charles. It was a definite factor in the Prince and Princess’s divorce. Princess Diana was killed in a fatal car crash 1996. Charles married Camilla, The Duchess of Cornwall in 2005.

The parallel in their lives are uncanny. In my view, both in loveless marriages. Having to live with the humiliation of other women in the orbit of their marriages. Both loved the public and the public loved them. All men love them and women wanted to be like them. Except their husbands did not appear to have the same admiration.

Seniors looking for a mate? It maybe safer to match up with a regular person (smile).
