Liz and Burton Love and Lost - Senior Singles

Liz and Burton Love and Lost - Senior Singles

Liz and Burton Love and Lost
Senior singles have you ever been in a long term relationship or marriage? When it ended,  said regretted the relationship. Wish I was never in relationship or marriage.  You would never do that again! As the time goes by you realize the relationship would never lasted but in your heart there are no regrets. Relationships and love have a common equalizer. All people regardless of position have  highs, lows and lost in romance and love. Before Brad Pitt and Angela Jolie there was Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. Their love story had a worldwide theme Love and Loss.

Elizabeth Taylor (1932- 2011) duet citizen of England and USA. Married eight times having seven husbands. In my opinion her greatest love was Richard Burton. She married Burton twice. Richard Burton (1925-1984) born working class, Neath Port, Wales. He was the twelfth of thirteen children. In the 1940s he worked on stage and cinema in England. In the late 1940s critics claimed, “acting fire, manly bearing and good looks.” Burton’s first wife was a fellow actor Sybil Williams. They married in 1949 they had two children. He first met Elizabeth Taylor at a party. She was pregnant and then married to Michael Todd. Taylor’s second husband.

In l963 the production of Cleopatra starring Elizabeth Taylor. Richard Burton replaced Stephen Boyd as Mark Anthony. Up until that time Twentieth Century Fox’s Cleopatra was the most expensive film ever made and running over budget. Cleopatra was cut from six hours to four hours and was a box office success. Burton’s role as Mark Anthony paved the road to Burton’s success in Hollywood as a leading man. He remained among top 10 box-office earners for the next several years. Elizabeth Taylor was already Hollywood Royalty and a top box office earner.

Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton fell in love during the production of Cleopatra. There was one small problem they were both married to other people. Burton was married to his first wife, Sybil Williams. Elizabeth Taylor was married to her fourth husband Eddie Fisher. They both divorced there respective spouses and married in 1964. The Vatican condemned their affair as “erotic vagrancy”.  The press had a never ending curiosity about their affair and marriage. Why not? Elizabeth Taylor was one of the most beautiful women in the world and one of the world most famous actresses. Richard Burton was hard drinking with a ruddy complexion. His voice was golden in a very manly Shakespearean way. Burton had alpha male presences. At the time, they were two of the most famous people in Hollywood. When they looked at each other there was fiery love and passion in their eyes. Burton lavished Elizabeth with jewelry. Famous were 33.19 carat Krupp Diamond and pear-shaped 69.42 carat Taylor-Burton Diamond. With all of the love, passion, comfort and beauty after a ten year of marriage they divorced in 1974.

Liz and Burton briefly remarried 1975 and divorced again in 1976. The public around the world could not get enough of Liz and Burton. Their affair made them top motion picture earners for several years. I question if the film, Cleopatra had not be made Liz and Burton may not have fallen in love.

Life is a roller coaster. During their affair and marriage the Burton's lived extravagantly all over the world, most beautiful couple in the world, and top Hollywood earners. It did not end well personally for them both after 1976. One of the many films they made together may have given an inside look into their marriage. Film made in 1966, ‘Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” Rumors, Richard Burton at one point or the other was supporting 42 family members. In 1976 Burton married Susan Hunt and ended in divorce in 1982. In 1983 Burton married his fourth wife Sally Hay. Richard Burton was a heavy drinker and smoker and died from a cerebral hemorrhage August 1984. In 1976 Elizabeth Taylor was no longer box office golden. She was famous for her beauty, marriages and old movies. She founded a successful perfume company and AIDS foundation charities. She married two more times and divorced. She died March 2011.

It does not matter if you are rich or poor all people are seeking companionship and love. Fiery passion romance coined,"heart over head." The fascination with celebrities is that there romances and marriage may mirror our own.

Liz and Burton married in 1964 before online dating. They are both died. My guess is that they did not regret meeting and falling in love. Others have had love and lost relationships and marriages. Their old memories are dictating NO Regrets. Currently people are meeting at parties, bars, church and work places. Senior may not be looking a fiery romance or maybe you need the fire. Senior Dating - Royal Love Webs

Duchess of Devonshire

Senior Dating - Love Webs of Royals
Georgina Cavendish ( Duchess of Devonshire)
 and  Princess Diana

Georgiana Cavendish great, great grand niece was Diana Spencer. Both born more than two hundred year apart had very similar ill fated marriages. Georgiana married William Cavendish, 5th Duke of Devonshire and Diana Spencer marriage Prince Charles of Wales. Georgina married at 17 William Devonshire nearly ten years her elder. Georgiana’s father was John Spencer, 1st Earl Spencer. Diana married at age 20 years and Prince Charles of Wales was in his early thirties. Both married older men of status and wealth. William and Charles were considered the most eligible bachelors of the time. Their marriages propelled them to fame. Duchess of Devonshire and Princess Diana both noted for their beauty and fashion. Fashion icons of the day the duchess was painted by Gainsborough and Reynolds. More than two hundred years later Princess Diana was painted by Mario Testino. Every public appearance Georgina chronicled in tabloids of the day. Princess Diana was flocked by paparazzi.

Duke of Devonshire had two conditions required from his wife loyalty and a male heir. 18th century London had one set of rules for wives and a different set of rules for husbands. Early in her marriage her husband’s child by a maid moved into their home. Georgiana raised the child as her own. There were three children from this marriage. Fortunately, the third child was a male heir, the 6th Duke of Devonshire. The Duke’s mistress, Lady Elizabeth Foster lived with them for twenty five years. Lady Elizabeth Foster bore the 5th Duke of Devonshire two children.

Georgiana’ public life was different than here private life. Known for beauty, style and elaborate fashion. She had a passion for politics and actively campaigned for the Whig Party. She had an extra marital affair with Charles Gray. This affair produced a daughter, Eliza Courtney. The daughter was sent to live with the Grey family. Charles Grey later became prime minster. Georgiana and William remained together until her death at 48. A few years after Georgiana’s death 5th Duke of Devonshire married his mistress, Lady Elizabeth Foster.

Diana as well, known for beauty and fashion. Princess Diana was active in AIDS Awareness and land-mine victims. Two handsome sons was produced from there marriage. Prince William, Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry of Wales’s heirs to the throne. Camilla Parker Bowles relationship with Prince Charles begin many years before Diana’s marriage to Prince Charles. It was a definite factor in the Prince and Princess’s divorce. Princess Diana was killed in a fatal car crash 1996. Charles married Camilla, The Duchess of Cornwall in 2005.

The parallel in their lives are uncanny. In my view, both in loveless marriages. Having to live with the humiliation of other women in the orbit of their marriages. Both loved the public and the public loved them. All men love them and women wanted to be like them. Except their husbands did not appear to have the same admiration.

Seniors looking for a mate? It maybe safer to match up with a regular person (smile).

Marital ages for girls was between fourteen and eighteen. Grooms marital ages were early twenties and thirties. In ancient Greece the Spartan family represented self-denial and simplicity. Spartan children belonged to the state more than their parents. Spartan males were raised to be soldiers. A Spartan was loyal to the state. Boys were taken from their parents at age 7 and were trained to be solders. Married Spartan men continued to live in barrack until the age of thirty. Married Spartan men met with their wives occasionally for procreation.

Priests did not direct formalized wedding ceremonies. There were a set of formalized rituals couples had to follow before living together and husband and wife. Divorced were easily obtained in Ancient Greece. Any remaining cash from a woman’s dowry had to be refunded to the bride’s parents. Divorce was granted on various grounds; if wife could not produce children or adultery.

Ancient Egyptian Marriage
 Ancient Egypt Marriage

Until the Greece period it was royal tradition brother/sister or father/daughter marriages.
Egyptian mythology, gods marriage between brothers and sisters and fathers and daughters.
Theories may have been it was the king's prerogative and intermarriages strengthened the king's claim to rule. The belief was that the Pharaoh was a descendant of the gods. Cleopatra was married to her brother. The Pharaohs had multiple wives. The "Great Royal Wife" and he had several minor wives. Ramsus II Royal Wife was Royal Queen Nefertari. It is speculated the Ramsus II has multiple off springs from a combination of his wives. The male heir was often married to his sister or stepsister.  It was not uncommon for common people marriages to family members. Marriages seemed to be of people of the same social class but little regard  to race or nationality. Records show that Egyptians married to Nubian's or people of other countries. Polygamy was also practiced in the ruling classes.

Monogamy was a general marriage practice in the the common class. The average age for a bride was 13 years old. Commoner's marriages were not arranged. A young man would take gifts to the intended home. Parental approval is unsettled but dowries were involved strengthens assumption parental approval essential.  Marriage arrangements followed. In early Egypt the future husband made payment to the bride's father. This practice was reversed and the bride's father payed a dowry to husband for wife upkeep. A marriage agreement was made assigning portions of the husband's wealth to the wife and any children resulting from the marriage if a divorce should occur ending the marriage. Wives that brought assets into a marriage remained the wives property if a divorce should result. This included separate ownership of land, slaves and etc she possessed prior to the marriage.  Egyptian law fore bide the transfer of assets to another person without the wive and eldest son's consent. Divorce was easy to obtain in ancient Egyptian society. Conversely, punishment for a wife found guilty of adultery were brutal. The punishment could be stoning or burning. It is not clear if the same punishment applied to adulterous husbands.

There is little written evidence in Ancient Egypt of wedding ceremonies or certificates. It is unclear in Ancient Egypt if brides and grooms needed their parent's permission to marry. Women were considered married if she took her belongings from her parent's house to a single man's house. Single women and men over the age of consent living together in the same house were considered married. The average age for girls was 12 to 14 years of age. Average age for boys was 14 to 19 years of age. Written marriage certificates and divorce agreements do not exist. Men or women could if reason were irrelevant. Ancient Egyptian men regarded women and marriage highly. In Ancient Egypt love was an essential part of life. Royalty and commoner had different set of marriage customs.

Matrimonium is the root word for "matrimony". Taking a woman in marriage to have children. Prominent families marriages first arranged later if your lucky fall in love. That same evening the bride gave her childhood toys away to her family. On the wedding day the bride was dressed by her mother. A belt was tied around her waist. This belt was "knot of Hercules". Hercules was the guardian of wedding life. This belt could only be untied by her husband. Usually the wedding ceremony was held at the bride's fathers house. To legalize the ceremony witnesses had to be present. During the wedding ceremony wedded couple would sacrifice an animal asking the gods for a blessing. At the couples new home the bride was carried over the threshold. Records vary some claim the husband and others claim the bride's attendants carried her  over the threshold.
